Good idea or exploitative? No doubt being filtered by NBC editors, still an interesting live look at first hand experiences of the South Pacific earthquake. The immediacy of these reports is compelling. Read more at MSNBC - Earthquake witness Weblog

Shop with companies that share your political ideology!

WARNING: To visit the website and actually view this article, you may have to enter code "fcaprilextreme" without the quotes. This is because until next month, this article is only available to subscribers.

Warning 2: I get political (ooooh!)

You can still vote! With your wallet. I quote from the article:
Two new left-leaning Web sites, www.choosetheblue.com and www.buyblue.org, draw on public data to pinpoint companies' political inclinations -- and encourage consumers to vote with their wallets.

What I found interesting was the chart (pretty much the whole article) which showed some (for me) surprising companies leaning left! I knew I liked Starbucks coffee!

Sunlight in a tube

This is the kind of cool stuff I live for! Scientists have designed a tube that sends sunlight from a collector on the roof to indoor rooms that may not get enough natural lighting.
