L Train has no conductor
This is news? Riders of the L Train have known for years that it is driven as if there is no one behind the wheel! Apparently, the MTA is piloting an automated train service that will run without conductors. The hope is that more trains will run more frequently with less error. A quote from the article:
L-line trains will run without conductors, except in emergencies, coasting along at preordained speeds and stopping automatically at stations, a lone train operator in the front car watching the controls.I for one am curious to see how it turns out.
